His name is based on the "Harun al-Rashid's" Persian vizier "Ja'far ibn Yahya" also known as "Ja'far al-Barmaki" which is one of the real people (not a fictional character) in "One Thousand and One Nights" stories. He appears in many stories in the "One Thousand and One Nights" series.
